The new ’21 century urban living’ -concept OurDomain Amsterdam Diemen is a respond to the housing needs of young city dwellers, like students and young professionals. The design of three new buildings varying in height are part of the existing Campus Diemen atmosphere that is transformed since 2014. Two apartments buildings are connected with the present volume at which the third building, the student housing, is physically attaches to the existing Campus Diemen building.

Current modern housing needs to include influences of sustainability, shared economy, flexibility, mixed-use places, service and comfort in public spaces. Therefore, the design presents studio’s and ‘one-bedroom’ apartments varying from 25 to 50m2. The concept stimulates continuous growth within the housing possibilities. Students are encouraged to shift between the housing possibilities this concept offer when being ready taking first career steps. Furthermore, additional facilities like workspace areas, restaurants and parking lots are included in the total design.

OurDomain Amsterdam Diemen connects the former Campus Diemen Zuid area with the Holland Park area. The two apartment buildings have three high points located at the corners to strengthen the community unit ambiance as well as functional design matters. This design includes different color shades, prefab constructions and types of brickwork to form a campus unity.

Besides the sustainable aspects of solar panel installation on rooftops of the building, the social sustainability is a catalyst for Campus Diemen Zuid. Important aspect in social sustainability is the current existing urban structures as a starting point when developing housing.
