EUROPA light installation Hamburg

23 January 2019

For a few years in a row now, OZ has been a sponsor of the light installation „EUROPA“ initiated by morePlatz architects. This project represents and symbolizes a united and open Europe in the public space. In addition, this installation supports cooperation in general and encourages to look beyond boundaries. We value the extra power that art can provide in combination with architectural design greatly.
From January on, the EUROPA installation will illuminate the facade of Kraftwerk Bille, located within an ensemble of factories from the late 19th century in Hamburg. The installation consists of 33 neon lights and, positioned at a height of approximately 24 meters, will be clearly visible from the Elbbrücken near Hafencity. During 2018, the light installation was a part of the Unesco World heritage at Zeche Zollverein in Essen within the context of the European year of cultural heritage.
EUROPA will be visible in Hamburg untill the end of April. Furthermore, there will be other art installations and performances held in the surroundings of these factory buildings. An update program can be found here.
